As an overall, it is clear that there was a downward trend in the number of marriages and a slight change occurred in the figure of divorces. While, the material status of adults who were married was much more higher than other groups.
In 1970, the quantity of marriages in the USA accounted for more than double rate two times more (2,5 million) than that in of divorce. After three decades, this number decreased minimally to 2 million.
While the pattern of divorce increased slightly from 1 million in 1970 to almost 1,5 million in 1980 before declining back further to 1 million by 2000.
In contrast, the material marital status of adults who were never married made up approximately 10% in 1970 and it doubled by 2000. Likewise, the percentage of married adults amounted to 70% in 1970 and there was a decline of 10% in 2000. Surprisingly, the figure of adults who were widowed and divorced did not reveal remarkable change during the whole period.
There were 5% widowed adults in 1970 and it unchanged until at the end of the period. 2% showed the number of divorced adults was 2 % in 1970 before going up to 10% throughout 2000.
