   The bar chart illustrates how many telephone calls in three types were in GB over the year 1995 to 2002. It is clearly seen that the huge number of minutes of phone calls was on local-fixed line, whereas the lowest was on mobile calls over the whole period.

         In 1995, Local-fixed line amounted just over 70 billion minutes in the number of phone calls, two times higher than that of National and International-fixed line at the same time. However, the figure for Mobile calls was at the lowest point of around 4 billion minutes over the same period. From this time onwards, the trends of phone calls in three types were on a progressive rise until 1998. But, in 1999, the figure of telephone calls on Local-fixed line increased considerably, reaching an all time high of 90 billion minutes before starting to drop steadily. Further on, National and International-fixed line saw a marked growth in the number of telephone calls, hitting its highest level of 60 billion minutes at the end of the period. Likewise, the pattern for Mobile calls increased extremely, topping at approximately 45 billion minutes in 2002.

The graph provides information about the whole number of minutes of telephone calls in the UK, by three categories, from 1995 to 2002.

In general, the local-fixed line was used much more than national-fixed line and mobiles.

The total number of minutes in local-fixed line increased steadily from 70 billion in 1995 to 90 billion in 1999. The national and international-fixed line saw a moderate rise from 37 billion in 1995 to 63 billion in 2002. In the UK mobiles illustrated 5 billion calls in 1995. Its level rose by 40 billion coming to 2002. The local-fixed line decreased moderately by 15 billion from 1999 to 2002.

SAMPLE THREE

//// the number of call minutes in mobiles doubled from 1995 to 1996, making up about 6 billion minutes. For the first five years, the number of call minutes in local fixed line rose steadily, reaching an all time high of 90 billion minutes of calls in 1999. However, for the last three-year-period, it decreased moderately, bottoming out at 70 billion in 2002, the same figure as in 1995. The figure for the national and international fixed-line saw a progressive rise from about 37 billion in 1995 to approximately 47 billion in 2002. Likewise, the least popular phone category, mobiles experienced a ten-time growth for the whole period, constituting about 45 billion minutes of calls in 2002.
