Recent figures show an increase in violent crime among youngsters under the age of 18. Some psychologists claim that the basic reason for this is that children these days are not getting the social and emotional learning they need from parents and teachers.
To what extend do you agree or disagree with this option?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
According to current studies, it is seen that the number of youth violence is on the rise. As some psychologiests noted that the main reason of this issue is thought for yougsters not to acquire social and emotional knowledge from their parents and teachers. However, I support this statement up to a point and it will be proven with some facts and reasons in the following paragraphs.
To start with, social and emotional knowledge given by parents and teachers is considered by many basics of human well-being. This set of knowledge passed on for ages stops the youth from committing violent crimes. However, because of parents’ carelessness and teachers’ irresponsibility, young people are kept away from this valuable knowledge and eventually they are addicted to offending. Therefore, it cannot be denied the claim that lack of social and emotional knowledge is the main root of the juvenile delinquency .
On the other hand, there are some serious threats that are being responsible for youngsters’ crime. One of the potential cause is the widespread of internet, giving a chance for the youth to access uncensored data. Thanks to youth’s curiosity and not having enough life experience, they are easily joining violent groups. For these reasons, their involvement in crime is growing.
After considering aforementioned facts and reasons, once more I am inclined to believe that there are many causes of this issue. In order to tackle with this headache, governments and individuals should collaborate in upbringing and desciplining our future generation, censoring data and educating social and emotional knowledge.
